Despite the temperamental weather of the Midwest, Spring has officially arrived. Get excited because here are 7 of the Best Farms in Cincinnati, and they’re opening their doors for visitors! Make a trip to one (or more) of these local farms and join me in kissing winter goodbye!

1. Gorman Heritage Farm

Gorman Heritage Farm offers countless activities to enjoy. A 122-acre farm, Gorman Heritage has gardens, trails, and farm animals. You can take a guided tour, or a self-guided tour, which includes scavenger hunts!

Gorman Heritage Farm Sunflower Festival

This farm offers a number of educational programs, but registrations for these events fill up fast. Gorman Heritage is a working farm that produces meat, produce, and flowers. All of these and more can be bought at the farm store on site, making it one of the best farms in Cincinnati.

2. Blooms and Berries

Blooms and Berries is officially open for the season, and is one of the few “u-pick” farms in the Greater Cincinnati region. You’ll get the freshest pick of blueberries and strawberries!

This farm has its very own garden center with a selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, and succulents.

Blooms and Berries Farm

Check out the Market Barn, where you’ll find local meat, honey, jams, garden oddities, and gifts. Blooms and Berries boasts Farmyard Fun, which is an interactive playscape that your kids will absolutely love.

Farmyard Fun is currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but that could change at any time.

3. Parky’s Farm

Parky’s Farm, located in Cincinnati inside Winton Woods, has just about everything you and your kids could dream up. There are several playgrounds, farm animals, picnic shelters, gardens, walking trails, and more.

If your little ones love bees like mine does, then they’ll be in for a treat. Watch as bees zip around the hives and flowers, pump water into the gardens, and when you need a break, eat a packed lunch!

There are some COVID-19 restrictions at this time which make Parky’s Playbarn, pony rides, and wagon rides unavailable.

Parky’s Farm offers fall fun too, so you can plan a visit pretty much anytime of year.

4. Kinman Farms

Kinman Farms normally holds a Spring Fest with hayrides, face painting, a petting zoo, and more. Unfortunately, Spring Fest is cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

Their greenhouse and gift barn WILL be open, however, starting this month.

You can get what you need for your spring gardening at Kinman Farms. Seasonal items will be sold including fruit and veggies, mulch, perennials, ground covers, and shrubs.

5. Hidden Valley Orchards

Drive a little north of Cincinnati to Hidden Valley Orchards, in Lebanon, Ohio. The orchard opened for the season March 26, and they offer more upcoming events than I’ve seen at any other farm.
These events are geared toward adults, including cooking workshops and wine tastings! Hidden Valley Orchards also hosts live music events, the first of the season being May 1.

This orchard offers a taproom and full bar called The Crate Room, along with a farmer’s market and and The Coop, a soft serve ice cream barn. This would make an awesome date, wouldn’t it?

6. Niederman Family Farm

Niederman Family Farm is a favorite of mine. Their Fall Fun and Sunflower Fest are amazing; I’ve never taken my son during Spring, so this might be the year!

Visit the farm beginning April 20 for a Spring Visit, but make sure to purchase tickets online since no tickets are being sold at the gate. You’ll get to see farm animals, play in the play area, check out the pollination station, learn about good nutrition and how to milk a cow! Bring a packed lunch to enjoy, and don’t forget to wander through the hay maze.

7. Young’s Jersey Dairy

Young’s Jersey Dairy is up in Yellow Springs, but it’s definitely one of the best farms in the Cincinnati area, and worth the drive. This farm has been established since 1869!

You and your family will get to explore the dairy farm itself. Watch as staff milks cows (about 4:30-5:30 PM daily) and meet goats and other farm animals in the barn. They, of course, have a dairy store, where you can get the freshest ice cream you’ve ever had, along with any of your three square meals for the day.

Young’s Jersey Dairy Farm

Udders and Putters

Young’s Dairy gives you the chance to whack a ball in any fashion you choose. At Udders and Putters, there are two miniature golf courses, batting cages (hardball and softball), and a driving range. Your littles can also enjoy an exciting barrel ride around the farm, slide down a HUGE slide (so huge there is a minimum height of 42”), and the littlest ones can hang out in the Kiddie Corral!
